Local Elections

Our local state representative is running for re-election and recently sent out a mailing listing all that he accomplished during his current term. It covered about 3/4 of a 4x6 post card in tiny mouse print that I could barely read. I then wondered how many of the actual accomplishments that he was touting did he actually author the bill. Based upon my limited research I could find none that he was the author of. It seems that as a first term legislator he was following his party lead and not necessarily doing what was good for his district.

update 1 - The local paper had the same questions and based upon their research found that he had actually authored two of 35 bills claimed. In the end result they did not endorse either candidate.

Full Disclosure - I am not affiliated with any party and always cast my vote for the candidate that I feel shares my political philosophy and will do the most good for the district in which I reside. I have been known to write in "None of the above" when no one meets my criteria!

Vote on November 4th!

Financial Meltdown

I haven't looked at my 401(k) in several months because it will depress me and I refuse to be depressed at this time. Either you are trading for the short term or in for a long haul and profits or losses are like the ocean tide, they go up and they go down. They only matter when you are ready to cash out.
